(6) DUKE 99, UNC-ASHEVILLE 56

DURHAM, North Carolina After a long layoff, Duke took out its frustrations on North Carolina-Asheville.

Kyle Singler led a balanced attack with 14 points and eight rebounds as the sixth-ranked Duke crushed North Carolina-Asheville, 99-56.

Gerald Henderson also scored 14 points and Jon Scheyer added 13 for the Blue Devils (9-1), who had six players score in double figures.

Duke had not played since December 6 when it suffered its first loss of the campaign, an 81-73 setback at Michigan.

The Blue Devils took it to the Bulldogs from the start as Singler made a pair of 3-pointers during a 13-2 run to help Duke to a 23-13 lead with 12:06 left in the first half.

Duke made four consecutive shots during a 10-0 burst midway through the first half to extend the lead to 37-19 with 8:10 left. The Blue Devils held a 52-35 lead at intermission.

It was more of the same in the second half as Singler capped a 9-0 run with a dunk to open a 67-40 bulge with 13:25 left to play. The Blue Devils were never threatened the rest of the way and led by as many as 45 late in the contest.

Greg Paulus, Nolan Smith and Brian Zoubek scored 12 points apiece for Duke, which shot 52 percent (36-of-69) from the floor and connected on 11-of-27 from the arc.

Reid Augst had 15 points and nine rebounds to pace the Bulldogs (4-6).

(12) UCLA 75, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 44

LOS ANGELES Michael Roll scored a season-high 12 points off the bench as the 12th-ranked Bruins throttled Loyola Marymount, 75-44.

A junior swingman, Roll scored all 12 of his points from beyond the arc, hitting 4-of-5 from long range and grabbing four rebounds as UCLA (7-2) earned its first three-game win streak of the season.

Darren Collison scored 11 points and Josh Shipp added nine for the Bruins, who were hardly impressive against their winless in-state rivals.

UCLA shot only 40 percent (26-of-65) from the field, hitting 11-of-33 (33 percent) from 3-point range.

Collison scored seven points during a 12-3 run that increased the Bruins bulge to 54-31 with 11:27 remaining in the game.

The Lions (0-11) could not find the bottom of the net for a majority of the second half, failing to earn their first win of the campaign.

LaRon Armsteads layup 3:07 into the second half was Loyola Marymounts only field goal until there was 2:10 left in the game, when Kevin Young hit a jumper to trim the deficit to 73-39.

The Lions missed 18 straight shots from the floor during their drought and finished the game shooting 25 percent (13-of-52) from the field, making only 1-of-17 3-pointers.

(3) PITTSBURGH 79, SIENA 66

PITTSBURGH DeJuan Blair scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead third-ranked Pittsburgh to a 79-66 victory over Siena.

Sam Young and Tyrell Biggs both poured in 14 points for the Panthers, who are off to an 11-0 start for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

Pittsburgh has started 10-0 in each of the last six seasons, but tripped up in its 11th game the previous two campaigns.

Clarence Jackson and Edwin Ubiles each finished with 12 points for the Saints (5-4), who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

(11) SYRACUSE 82, CANISIUS 60

SYRACUSE, New York Sophomore Rick Jackson scored a career-high 14 points and had eight rebounds and Paul Harris added 13 and 11 as No. 11 Syracuse cruised to an 82-60 victory over Canisius.

Arinze Onuaku and Jonny Flynn each scored 12 points for the Orange (10-1), who rebounded after suffering a last-second defeat to Cleveland State on Monday. Cedric Jackson banked in a heave from 60 feet away to give the Vikings a 72-69 victory.

Syracuse went on a 19-3 run to bridge the end of the first half and beginning of the second, taking a 50-34 lead with 17:57 remaining. The Orange never were threatened the rest of the way.

Frank Turner scored 18 points to lead the Golden Griffins (3-7), who have lost four straight contests.

(16) OHIO STATE 81, JACKSONVILLE 68

COLUMBUS, Ohio David Lighty matched his career high with 21 points and added seven rebounds and four assists as No. 16 Ohio State remained unbeaten with an 81-68 victory over Jacksonville.

Evan Turner scored 15 points and Jon Diebler added 14 for the Buckeyes (7-0), who shot 64 percent (27-of-42) from the floor.

The Buckeyes led by 11 at the break and by a 56-37 margin with 17:08 remaining in the contest.

Jacksonville fought back to cut the deficit to 69-64 with 5:03 left to play, but went without a field goal for the final 3:41 as Ohio State pulled away.

Lehmon Colbert scored 14 points to pace the Dolphins (2-6).

(21) MEMPHIS 59, UALR 51

MEMPHIS, Tennessee Robert Dozier scored 15 points and 21st-ranked Memphis overcame a poor shooting performance to defeat Arkansas-Little Rock, 59-51.

Shawn Taggart had 12 points with five rebounds and two blocks and Tyreke Evans added 12 and four assists for the Tigers (6-2), who shot 33 percent (15-of-45) from the field.

Memphis were coming off a 79-70 overtime loss to Georgetown on Saturday. The second loss of the season matched the Tigers total from the last campaign.

Steven Moore finished with 16 points for the Trojans (7-3), who were held to a season low in points en route to their third loss in five contests.

(22) MICHIGAN STATE 79, THE CITADEL 65

EAST LANSING, Michigan Raymar Morgan made sure Michigan State didnt fall into the trap.

The 6-8 junior forward scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the 22nd-ranked Spartans cut down The Citadel, 79-65.

Morgan was 11-of-12 from the field as Michigan State prepped for its matchup with fifth-ranked Texas on Saturday. The double-double was the fourth of Morgans career.

The Spartans scored the games first eight points and never trailed. They pushed the lead to 39-22 in the first half before settling for a 41-33 advantage at intermission.

Michigan State (7-2) maintained a double-digit lead for much of the second half and coasted to the finish.

Austin Dahn led the Bulldogs (5-6) with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.
