Jazz F Millsap to undergo MRI on right knee
Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap will miss his second straight game Wednesday, as he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his bruised right knee, according to multiple published reports.
The third-year big man banged knees with teammate Kyle Korver during Saturdays victory over the Detroit Pistons – incidentally, on the same day as his 19-game double-double streak came to an end. He missed Mondays shootout win over Indiana and has been listed as day-to-day.
He had his knee drained earlier this week and said that helped alleviate the pain and swelling, but told The Salt Lake Tribune on Wednesday that the knee still hasnt healed as quickly as he was hoping.
It still dont feel right, he told the paper. It feels like its not getting better. So Im going to go get it checked out today.
In addition to the bruise on his right knee, Millsap was already suffering from a hyper-extended left knee, which he suffered on December 23 against Milwaukee and which kept him out three games last month.
The former second-round pick, who is due for a huge pay raise when he becomes a free agent this summer, is averaging career highs with 15.3 points and 9.5 rebounds this season while filling in as a starter for injured All-Star Carlos Boozer.
Utahs usual sixth man, veteran forward Andrei Kirilenko, is expected to start in Millsaps place against the Thunder as the Jazz go for their fifth consecutive win.
