Which of today’s NBA games is the "best bet" for a $200 wager? I’m thinking of Houston -7 (or better) at Caeser’s Palace. This is because, although a mediocre team, the Rockets have been outperforming expectations at home, while Detroit is dismal everywhere.

What’s your opinion? I bet totals, also.
Houston has moved to -8.0 here! I’m not happy with that. I can’t believe Milwaukee is the DOG?

I lived in Milwaukee for a few years, went to a few games, so I can bet on a team I already like. The Nuggets are struggling right now – Utah showed that the other day.

I bet hockey.. Pay close attention to the -1 1/2 puck line. Some very nice pays there.
Be sure to ration your play money out to last your entire visit.. GL

edit.. Here is a good hockey bet for tonight NY Rangers – 1 1/2 (puckline) +165
I have a couple bucks on it..

I don’t think Houston-7 is a good idea, because 60% of the action is on that side and yet at most books the line has moved *down* since opening.

To me Milwaukee+3 looks like a good “fading the squares” bet.

Betting On Timberwolves Clippers – Rubio, Wolves Travel To Take On Griffin, Clippers

January 21st, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

Since the days of Kevin Garnett in Minnesota, the Timberwolves have been among the most irrelevant franchise’s in the NBA Western conference. While Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, and company work hard to try and turn things around for the franchise, their next opponent has taken a much different route to becoming a contender and legitimate sports betting option, as the Los Angeles Cliippers have surrounded emerging superstar Blake Griffin with a talented crop of guards that includes the offseason haul of both Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups. Those additions have had an instant impact on a Clippers’ roster that is challenging for first in the conference, and has emerged as one of the most exciting teams to watch.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Clippers
Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
Friday January 20, 2011 – 10:30 PM ET
NBA Betting Sites Line: Los Angeles Clippers – 4.5

The Timberwolves are hoping that their latest import Rubio can have the same effect as Griffin, and attract other talent from around the association to want to be a part of what is being built in Minnesota. Love offers the perfect big man presence for the T-Wolves’ offense, but they remain a young team still trying to put all of the pieces together.

Betting On Timberwolves Clippers Preview: Minnesota Timberwolves

For a young team looking to grow together, there are a lot of encouraging signs in Minnesota, particularly with the team’s commitment to playing hard at both ends of the floor. While Love and Rubio undoubtedly have a big hand in the offense, they are also getting back in time to make plays, as the Timberwolves rank ninth in rebounding and 11 in points allowed. The addition of JJ Barea to a team that already had Rubio and Luke Ridnour didn’t seem to make much sense at the time, but all three are averaging double-digit point totals, and doing an excellent job of bringing pace to the offense.

Betting On Timberwolves Clippers Preview: Los Angeles Clippers

Speaking of pace, the Clippers’ offense will challenge any other team as one of the most exciting in the association, with Griffin and Paul proving to be a highlight-reel tandem. The additions of Billups and Caron Butler have been just as important considering the secondary scoring that they have provided, and young center DeAndre Jordan has been a force down low, with 7.8 rebounds per game. Jordan was originally considered one of the most important pieces to the Paul deal with New Orleans, and Los Angeles really benefited from keeping him in town.

Betting On Timberwolves Clippers Preview: Outlook & Pick

The Clippers have lived up to the lofty expectations put on them, and emerged alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs as one of the top teams in the west. Minnesota appears to be on the right track as well, but they may not be ready for a tough road game against Los Angeles just yet, so stick with the best sportsbook favorite.

With Sports betting around the world. Would NBA games be possibly fixed constantly

January 21st, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

Maybe some are – like the whole Tim Donaghy scandal where the ref made dumb calls in return for cash, or maybe the coach or owner of an organization purposely calls bad plays if he himself has a bet on the game (this is probably prevalent in sports like football where plays are called all the time)..the vast majority probably aren’t though.

No chance whatsoever. Possible one or two of the refs could be bought but there are a ton of refs for each game and they can only do so much without it being outrageous. Nobody can afford to buy Lebron or Kobe. So NO there is 0% chance that NBA games are fixed.

Maybe 1 out of a hundred.. Same as a horse race at a Major track.. Constantly? NO..

edit.. These guys that say nothing is fixed ever live in a dream world.. Fixed?? All’s it takes is one “nut” player to miss a couple shots or make a bad pass once or twice to “throw” a game.
Granted It is not all that common.. But you can “bet ” it happens..
LOL The Human Factor..

No…the games are not fixed…..let me ask you……if you were a professional athlete playing a game you love and making millions of dollars, would you take a chance at fixing a game ?….of course not

Betting NBA Basketball Online – Booby Trap Games

January 20th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

The scheduling gods will catch up to every team in the National Basketball Association this year becomes of the condensed playing time but online best sportsbook bettors should be aware of some very dangerous trap games this weekend.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have surprised some people this year. The split their first 12 games straight up and covered three straight road games against Phoenix, the Lakers and Charlotte but the Camelot season may be in for a bumpy road this weekend.

On Saturday they will have to face Atlanta in Atlanta after tangling with the Chicago Bulls the night before. The Bulls can punish people and the Cavs could be worse for wear. They also will be playing Saturday in their 7th road game in the last 9 contests. Online sports players have to think long and hard about backing the visitors on Saturday.

The Philadelphia 76ers have gotten off to a super start this season and they should secure a decent playoff seeding. They opened the year with 5 straight on the road and only failed to cover once from December 31 to a win on Martin Luther King Day.

That’s the good sport betting news. The bad news is they have played some rather weak foes. They beat subpar teams like Phoenix, New Orleans, Toronto, Detroit, Sacramento and Washington twice.

Saturday night they will be tested. On Friday they will host the active and winning Atlanta Hawks, then have to resist the night temptations of South Beach 24 hours later when the face the Miami Heat.

Okay, Miami has missed D. Wade and there have been instances where they seemed vulnerable if a team can get them to play in the half court but Chris Bosh has been very consistent, Mario Chalmers has been making some good decisions, Udonis Haslem has given them toughness and rookie Norris Cole is learning under fire how to score in this league.

Miami players read the papers and they will be sky high to stick it to a Conference rival.

Back in the day Shaquille O’Neal used to refer to the Sacramento Kings as the Queens and although they have some talent there this season, there is some turmoil.

The Kings roll into Memphis Saturday but had to play the hot San Antonio Spurs on Friday. The game will be a war down low with March Gasol trying to keep the immature DeMarcus Cousins off the glass.

Rudy Gay has resumed his leader roll on Memphis and he is starting to get in better shape and shooting the ball better. Marreese Speights is gaining confidence as he tries to fill the shoes of the injured Zach Randolph.

Memphis is one of the leaders in the league in stealing the ball as Mike Conley and Tony Allen fill the passing lanes and when they do tip the ball, they are off to the races.

Young teams have a hard time generally on the road and the Kings will be playing their 7th room service game in 8 events.

The Griz should roll.

Keep your betting websites eye on the ball, and good luck.

Betting On Lakers Magic – Orlando Takes Advantage Of Tired Lakers

January 20th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

Most sports betting players have heard of the Dwight Howard-to-Los Angeles rumors, and the Lakers are reportedly on his list of teams if Orlando decides to trade their superstar center. He’ll get a look at the Lakers when they come to town on Friday night, but the Lakers will be coming off an exhausting game against the favorites to win the championship, so lean towards the team that is at home after a day off.

What: NBA Betting
When: Friday, January 20th, 8:00 PM ET
Where: Amway Center, Orlando, FL
Pick: Orlando Magic

Why Bet On Los Angeles Lakers (10-5 SU, 7-8 ATS, 1-4 ATS road)

This will be the second half of a back-to-back for the Lakers, who defeated Dallas 73-70 on Monday night at home to earn a small measure of revenge for their sweep at the hands of the eventual NBA champions. The Lakers needed a three-pointer from Derek Fisher with 3.1 seconds left on the clock to avoid overtime, and even though Fisher is a sieve on defense and doesn’t offer much in the way of points, he has always had a knack of hitting big shots at the right time. Kobe Bryant had his four-game streak of 40 points or more snapped as he scored just 14 points on 7-of-22 shooting, but the Lakers got a great game from center Andrew Bynum, who notched 17 points and 15 rebounds. The Los Angeles defense swarmed Dallas, harassing the Mavericks into a 35% shooting night from the field and 15 turnovers, which made up for the Lakers shooting 38.2.

However, as we said the Lakers will be playing for the second straight night, and their opponents on Thursday will be Miami, so it’ll be interesting to see how fatigue plays a factor because the Heat will give the Lakers all they can handle and more. Los Angeles has no major injuries, although NBA betting players should always be on the lookout for news on Bryant (wrist). However, in this game the Lakers should try to go to Bynum as much as possible. He should be motivated as the Lakers are apparently still in the hunt to land Dwight Howard, and a meeting with “Superman” should have Bynum ready to go on Friday night.

Why Bet On Orlando Magic (10-3 SU, 8-5 ATS, 3-3 ATS home)

The Magic got a massive night from their big man in a 96-89 win over Charlotte on Tuesday, their second in a three-games-in-three-nights stretch, as Howard racked up 25 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Jameer Nelson was next with 17 points for the Magic, who had a 42-36 edge on the glass and they outscored the Bobcats 50-40 in the paint. The Magic also got 13 points off the bench from Von Wafer, and Orlando needs their second unit to step up and make some shots when Howard and company are taking a breather. They also made up for a subpar night from Ryan Anderson, who had 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting, and he hit just two of his nine three-point attempts. Anderson has to be in the running for Most Improved Player in the early part of the season, but he struggled in this game and had to depend on his teammates to pick up the slack.

The bench also had to step up in the absence of Jason Richardson (knee), who is being projected to come back to the lineup for this game, but you never know, so check his status. The major storyline coming into this game will be Howard, but the Magic have to hit the glass as a team; they’re just 21st in the league in that category, while the Lakers are first and that means Los Angeles has a chance to pick up some second-chance points due to offensive rebounding. Anderson has to battle with Pau Gasol to help out Howard, as does Hedo Turkoglu and even Nelson.

How It Will Play Out

Orlando should be the NBA betting favorites at home, where they are 3-2 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings with the Lakers, with the last four games coming in under the posted total. The Magic have been stellar at Amway Center this season, and they get a bit of a break on Friday night thanks to the schedule. They have Thursday off and even though they play Wednesday against San Antonio, that game is at home as well, so Orlando players could at least sleep in their own beds.

The Lakers, meanwhile, will be on the road on a different coast, and they’re going to expel a lot of energy on Thursday night in a nationally-televised showdown with Miami. Bryant will show up, as will Bynum (and we’re not even sure about that because of his knees), but what about the rest of the team? Take Orlando at home in your online betting picks on Friday.

Lakers Magic Betting Pick: Orlando Magic

Lebron or Kobe: More Clutch with game on the line

January 20th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

People always say Lebron’s a choke artist and Kobe is much more clutch
According to this article

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/29844/todays-crunch-time-best-vs-air-jordan

When trailing by one or two points, or tied, in the final 24 seconds of playoff games,
Lebron James 5-12- 41.7%
Kobe Bryant 7-25- 28%

People hate on Lebron too much. Everyone knows hes the most talented player in the NBA- Kobe fans you have to admit. Dont be stubborn hes more talented..

He may be the most hated though (after kris humphries)
but it kinda gets me mad when people make it seem like he shoots 10% in clutch situation when in fact he has almost double kobe’s fg% in clutch playoff spots. Alright in the finals he did bad, but everyone has one bad series. The lakers got swept by the mavs. Kobe didnt do too great.

By the way im an unbiased New Yorker that isn’t a fan of any team, just likes to bet on basketball haha.

I like Lebron & Kobe but those arguments get me mad
Lisa: Michael Jordan won his first title when he was 28. (6 total rings). Lebrons 27. He still has a long time before his career is over. Lakers fans tend to argue about d-wade only reason why lebron will win a ring or more. but shaq was actually named mvp in championship for lakers so lakers fans cant argue. maybe 90’s bulls fans can haha
"Kobe has taken more shots than LeBron in the clutch."
Good point Kobe has 25 opposed to Lebron’s 12. But do you really think Lebron will go 2 for his next 13.. I dont think so lol

Thats cool man.
But hey man I got some advice for you dont ever ask this question again ok?

Kobe is more clutch always has been 5 rings more than Lebron and tons of game winners Lebron has been known to choke though both very talented

Leboss james is not even close to being clutch. Couple yes ago in the playoffs against the wizards. Lebron missed a layup to beat the buzzerat he should of made. That’s why the ball goes in d wade’s handif the need a buzzer beater.

the difference is that kobe’s team wins most of the games where he’s had poor performances. all his comeback victories are due to him also. lebron they always lose if he plays bad in 4th quarter.

Kobe has been in the league a lot longer than LeBron, has taken shots with a tougher degree of difficulty than LeBron has, and has taken more shots than LeBron in the clutch.

Kobe is more clutch

Larry Bird was more clutch than both put together.
You can have ‘ em both.

is this bandwaggoning

January 19th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

Could somebody tell me whether ornot this situation is bandwaggoning and explain why it is or isn’t because I can’t seem to get a clear definition
This situation is about the mavericks and not the Pistons and Lakers
I’ve been a Laker and Piston fan since 2005-2006 season so that means I was watching when the lakers lost to Phoenix twice,2008 NBA finals and the current struggle after the Dallas sweep, for the Pistons I’m still scratching my head as to how the Pistons will ever make the playoffs but I’m still a watcher and love Piston Blue….That being said this situation happened

Of course last year the Pistons didn’t make the Pistons and I was kinda depressed at a moment when the Lakers swept. Now after that with 4 remaining teams Chcicago, Dallas, Miami and OKC I personally picked Dallas to win it all. I picked them because basketball wise i thought they could do it with Dirk, the zone and deffense so i defended and explained to a couple of "buddies" why they could win. Personally since the Lakers are out I thought it would be nice to see those guys like Peja, Dirk and Jason Kidd to finally win one for their careers sake. In fact in a bet among the 4 teams I was the only one who put up for Dallas . During this process I was labled a bandwaggoner by these "buddies" keep in mind that I am not and never have been a Dallas fan I’m a Jason kidd fan but not a dallas fan. Sure enough Dalals won and it was great seeing those guys win and me win the pot but they stilled labeled me as a bandwaggoner. In my deffense each and every game if you are a basketball fan you can’t tell me that you will not root for one team over the other or pick one team over the other so it doesen’t matter whether it’s GSW vs NOH or MIA vs BOS you will be hoping one team over another even if it’s not one of your teams. Now these people labeling aren’t squiky clean themsleves, one says he’s a hicago fan well I never heard anything from him when Kirk heinrich was the PG of that team, another says he’s a lebron fan and obviously he picked the heat to win so i thought how was this different from my JKidd thing and another one says he’s for OKC, well when Durant was in Seattle I heard nothing…. I’m still hoping for the Pistons and I know the Lakers lost today but I’m still optimistic

Just say,” I am only picking the Mavericks to win just to go against you.”

You are not bandwagoning by the way.

im a hardcore LAKER fan. like since i was 8 (im 20 now). but yea ive always wanted to clippers to do well but i was never a true fan…. i want them to win the finals (or the lakers of course). so yea, i think you can watch other team and shouldnt be considered bandwagoner if youre still a hardcore fan of ur original team.

If you bet on a team, its not bandwagon-ing, take this for an example. The Green Bay Packers have won 15 games and only lost one. Now because they have won so many games, all of these people go crazy and buy Packer jerseys, and all of that just because they are the winning team and want to be a part of them. Rooting for a team is not the same as buying a teams jerseys and becoming a fan just because they are winning. I’d say you aren’t a bandwagon.

You’re not a bandwagon.

Wilt Chamberlain is the best ever, or is he

January 18th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

His stats say so.

Those pesky stats. Unlike Babe Ruth, who played in a segregated era, Wilt played against a diverse crowd.

Why all the hate toward Wilt?

Today’s spoiled children, most people not born before 1965, are caught up with ESPN and other modern establishments to think clearly, I think. And I was born in 1971.

Here are some stats you probably know and some you might not….

Lets makes sure we ignore these stats and just go ‘goo-goo ga ga’ over what is seen on TV. Stats rule, except when liberals are in the White House and when comparing Wilt to everyone else.

Scored 100 points in 1 game. Wow. That’s a lot, except when Wilt does it.

55 rebounds in 1 game. Yes, too bad Jordan was never close, you know it!

4 time League MVP

Won 2 Championships

7 scoring titles IN A ROW.

11 time Rebound champion of the league. Boy, a couple more years and Kobe and Jordan will be here. O’ wait. No they won’t.

Once averaged 50 points and 25 reb in a season. How close was Kobe, Larry or Jordan?

2 crazy ones….

Led league in Assists. How close was anyone else to leading the league in assists and did everything else Wilt did? Jordan couldn’t do this at his peak and he were in the NCAA.

Once had a 20,20,20 game, 20pts, 20 reb,20 assists.

No other has done these in total.

Come up with real statistics to back up the claim that Wilt is not the best ever. The # of championships? Wilt has two. Somehow, for most everyone else, it matters about team. But for Wilt, two isn’t enough. Game 6 of NBA playoff game Phoenix vs Chicago was fixed. The NBA knew they could fool silly American guys who drool over Jordan, despite never getting stats like Wilt, despite Wilt playing against the best.

Wilt was in a smaller league and talent was tougher every game. Hey nerds, Tyrone Curtis "Muggsy" Boguescould not have played when Wilt played. The leauge was saturated with guys a lot better than Tyrone.

Muggsy, (born January 9, 1965) is a retired American professional basketball player. The shortest player ever to play in the NBA, the 5 ft 3 in Bogues played point guard for four teams during his 14-season career in the National Basketball Association. 1987-2001.

He would have been laughed out of the arena if he played when Wilt played.

We need something other than some guy typing ‘Kobe’ to justify why Wilt is not the bets. Kobe looks the best to silly guys who see him in HD playing against Muggsy. Wilt could score 150 against Muggsy and today’s players.

Why is Kobe the best. Needs facts to see why Kobe, or Muggsy, is best. Of course Larry and Jordan look good. They played against a guy who is 5 ft 3. What a joke. If Bogues was of age when Wilt played, he would have never left Baltimore because the NBA’s talent to just too deep to allow a guy who is that short to play. If this is not a fact, please back it up with facts, not feelings and emotions please.

How can you justify why guys who play against someone shorter than 5 ft 4 vs Wilt. Wilt never played against a guy 5 ft 3, but we know Jordan, Larry and Kobe did.

Right?

Need facts to see why Michael Jordan, who sucks as gambling and baseball, is the best. Cut and paste stats, but just because you saw these guys on TV is not good enough.

And we will put an asteris next to anyone who played from 1987 to 2001 because they got lucky and played against a guy who is 5 ft 3.

I have not watched a NBA game since Game 6 of the 1993 NBA final, Chicago vs. Phoenix, when the NBA rigged game six to make sure the series went to Game 7. Game 7 was not fixed, but 6 was. The NBA, knowing most of the audience are not bright, knew they could pull a fast one on the audience.

Jordan couldn’t even get Chicago past Phoenix to get to the finals. He needed the NBA to fix Game 6 for him.

Anyway, stick to the point.

I need stats to see why Wilt is not the best.

Take your time. Cut and paste or do whatever, but I need stats and facts and logic. Not feelings and emotions.

You see, government schools and Democrats focus too much on feelings and emotions and I need more than feelings and emotions.

I am a Libertarian and I need facts.

Funny, for all the people who say Wilt is not the best, there are equal amounts who refuse to see what I see when I watch Babe Ruth play baseball. There are only white guys. Baseball was extremely segregated.

But for most people, Babe getting better stats than most against a bunch of white guys and most see him as the best. Wilt played against people of all color and dominates like no one else, and nobody points out the BS.

This is a Gorge Carlin case. It’s all BS, and BS is bad for us.

Babe Ruth has great stats in a racist league, and no one says anything. Wilt plays against really tall players of all backgrounds, and has great stats, but ‘nothing to see here.’

oh yeah, Wilt also slept with about 1

  • No doubt about it!
  • no his not…in his era yea, but the nba wasnt that big back then…there wasnt any competition nor was there alot of size…
  • had sex with 20,000 women.
  • He scored 100 points……. against the Knicks! I could score 1000 against the Knicks and I am white.
  • He was great, but wouldnt of been as good in the Shaq and Oluijajaun era
  • 6th on the all time list
  • Could’nt be bothered reading it all.
  • Wilt is overrated

Michael Jordan is the king of basketball

  • completely agree!
  • Wilt was an amazing player in his time, but his competition wasn’t so. He was greatt at everything, but if he played in the 90’s, he wouldn’t have the same stats.

NBA Basketball Betting – Rank and File

January 18th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

The power rankings of the National Basketball Association can change quickly especially in a shortened season like this one but online best sportsbook players should stay abreast of the teams that are climbing the ladder.

Everybody’s pick to the win the whole enchilada, the Miami Heat; will be at the top of the rankings probably all season. No shock here or is it shocking that the other elites of the league, Chicago, Portland, Oklahoma, San Antonio and the Los Angeles Lakers will all gain support in the top tier.

But let’s look to some of the surprising teams so far this season.

Enter the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers. The ballers from the City of Brotherly Love have come fast out of the block winning 9 of their first 12 games and they have been burying teams.

After a slow start last season, Philly bought into Coach Doug Collins game plan and he fits ideally in this scenario. He is at best a teacher and with a good mix of young players and veterans, Collins can make his players accountable on a daily basis.

They have been defending as well as any team but they are becoming an offensive force and have been great scoring off turnovers. As far as best best sportsbook value, Philly has been a team to bet. They covered 9 of their first 12 games with a push and one non-cover was only by a point.

Traditionalists all love the movie Hoosiers, but this year they really have something to root about as the Indiana Pacers are overachieving.

Center Roy Hibbert has been a force in the paint and David West has proven to be a great addition as a power forward. Darren Collison is making his way and is approaching elite status as a point guard while the Pacers bench of George Hill, Tyler Hansbrough and Jeff Foster look even better when energy guy Lou Amudson gets minutes.

Despite playing 3 games on the road from January 6 to the 13th, the Pacers covered 3 of the games and missed a cover by a mere half point.

On the other end of the spectrum you have the Boston Celtics. There may be some angry fans in Beantown long before the All Star Game this season, as the Celts are looking old, slow and ineffective.

Rajon Rondo continues to press the ball and beat everybody down the floor but the problem is his teammates have not been able to keep up with him.

Kevin Garnett does not intimidate anybody any longer, Paul Pierce seems to have lost at least a half step and Brandon Bass has been inconsistent. Ray Allen continues to shoot with accuracy but you also can live and die by the outside jumpers.

The Celts seldom have anybody on the bench that can give them double digits off the pine and that puts even more pressure on the aging starters.

The sport betting cover numbers are also pretty ugly. They only got to 100 once in their first 7 games of 2012, failed to cover in 4 straight home games when losing outright in games through January 13 and they have been getting killed off the boards.

Factor those tidbits into the mix along with fact they have to defense at the rim, and there may be a lot of green tears coming to Boston.

Betting Mavericks Clippers – Mavs Should Have Enough To Get Past Fatigued Clips

January 18th, 2012 Posted in NBA betting | No Comments »

NBA Betting players have to consider the schedule when wagering on the NBA this season, because teams are playing some insane stretches of basketball. The Los Angeles Clippers are without their star point guard and will end a run of three games in three days on Wednesday against Dallas, who should be a little more rested than the Clippers, rested enough to claim the win.

What: NBA Betting
When: Wednesday, January 18th, 10:30 PM ET
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
Pick: Dallas Mavericks

Why Bet On Dallas Mavericks (8-6 SU, 10-4 ATS)

This is the second of a four-game road trip for the Mavericks, and it opened on Monday with a 73-70 loss to the Lakers, which snapped a five-game winning streak. It was simply a poor shooting game for the Mavericks, who hit 35% of their field-goal attempts while going 4-of-26 from the foul line, and only two players reached double figures in scoring; Dirk Nowitzki with 21 points (along with seven boards), and Lamar Odom, who scored 10 points in 24 minutes in his return to Los Angeles after a messy split from the Lakers in the offseason. This was only Odom’s second double-digit game as a Maverick as he is still getting used to being in Dallas after seven years and two championships as a Laker (he also spent his first four years with the Clippers, so Odom is very familiar with the Staples Center). The Mavericks need Odom to provide a spark off the bench if they’re going to defend their NBA title.

It was also the second game back from injury for Jason Kidd, the 38-year-old who just keeps on ticking, but the Mavericks would like to keep his minutes down in this congested season. Swingman Vince Carter (foot) may not be available for this game after hurting himself against the Lakers, which means a few more minutes for Delonte West. Right now, the Mavericks’ main problem is scoring (21st in points scored) and that’s why they need Odom to pick up his game more consistently.

Why Bet On Los Angeles Clippers (7-3 SU, 6-4 ATS)

On Monday, the Clippers raced out to a 32-17 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 101-91 win at home over New Jersey, and they did it without Chris Paul (more on that in a minute). However, Chauncey Billups showed why he is going to be such an integral part of the Clippers this season as the veteran stepped up with 20 points, including nine in a fourth-quarter run to wrap up the game, while the Clippers also got 23 points and 14 boards from Blake Griffin. The Clippers had a 46-35 edge on the glass, including 15-9 on the offensive end, and they also outscored the Nets 46-26 in the paint as they ran wild with Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, who had 12 points, nine boards and four swats. This helped the Clippers overcome a miserable 19-of-35 day at the charity stripe and Griffin was the main culprit, going 5-of-13. The Clippers simply overpowered the Nets with their play in the post, although they still managed to get out and run without Paul.

Paul (hamstring) was injured late in a win on Saturday over the Lakers, and there is no timetable for his return, although Paul will travel with the team to Utah on Tuesday. Yes, facing the Mavericks will be the third game in three days for the Clippers, and the Paul injury highlights how dangerous this schedule will be this season. It’s a good thing that the Clippers have Billups, who has been starting alongside Paul, but he has proven to be a point guard who can help a team to the championship and his versatility will be a major factor in the Clippers’ NBA betting chances this season.

How It Will Play Out

Los Angeles should be the NBA betting favorites in this Western Conference bout, although they may not be heavy favorites as they’re playing for the third straight game, while the Mavericks had Tuesday off. Dallas has also won five in a row over the Clippers at the Staples Center, covering the spread on four occasions, and they’re a solid 4-2 ATS on the road this season, while the Clippers are 5-2 ATS at home.

The Mavericks should have an edge here because though the Clippers are a relatively young team, playing three games in three nights is a lot to ask and Dallas should be slightly fresher than their counterparts from Los Angeles. The Mavericks will also be eager to put Monday’s poor shooting performance behind them and for all of their athleticism, the Clippers are 22nd in the league in points allowed. Go with Dallas on the road in your Wednesday sports betting picks.

Mavericks Clippers Betting Pick: Dallas Mavericks
